The mean of eight numbers is 41.  The mean of two of the numbers is 29. What is the mean of the other six numbers​

The mean is calculated as

mean =
(sum)/(count)

Given the mean of 8 numbers is 41 , then


(sum)/(8) = 41 ( multiply both sides by 8 )

sum of 8 numbers = 328

Given the mean of 2 numbers is 29 , then


(sum)/(2) = 29 ( multiply both sides by 2 )

sum of 2 numbers = 58

The sum of the remaining 6 numbers = 328 - 58 = 270 , so

mean =
(270)/(6) = 45

The mean of the other 6 numbers = 45
