What is the weight of an object that has a mass of 12 kg if it is on Earth, where the acceleration due to gravity (g) is 9.8 m/s/s ? (units would be “Newtons” of force)

Please help ASAP

Answer:

Weight is ambiguous; depending on which meaning you use, either 12 kg or 117.7 N. Since you haven’t mentioned any other forces and assuming it is on earth, the force of gravity acting on 12 kg is about 117.7 N. That is one meaning of weight, the other (in law and commerce) is the mass.

Oh, in Customary, about 26.5 lb (mass) or 26.5 lbf (gravity).

See, weight = mass × acceleration due to gravity.

From the ques, we already have mass(12 kg) and acceleration(9.8 m/s²)

It's pretty simple now,

w = mg

w = 12 × 9.8

w = 117.6 N
