The total sum of all the probabilities should be equal to 1 ;

That is ;

5/12 + 1/6 + 1/4 + x = 1

Lcm of 4, 6, 12 = 12

(5 + 2 + 3)/12 + x = 1

10/12 + x = 1

x = 1 - 10/12

x = 2 / 12

x = 1/6
