x = -2

y = -1

Explanation:

y - 2x = 3 and y - x = 1

Subtract the second equation from the first

y - 2x = 3

- ( y - x = 1)

––––––––––

-x = 2

Multiply both sides by -1

x = -2

Sustitute x = -2 into the first equation

y - 2(-2) = 3

y + 4 = 3

Subtract 4 from both sides

y = -1
