Haploid cells are formed when the parent cell ends up splitting into 4 daughter cells. Diagram D shows the first stage of mitosis, in which diploid cells are formed. Diagram H represents the process of meiosis, or mitosis x2, where haploid cells are formed. Haploid cells are essentially halves of a half of a parent cell.
