Hi! This problem has a lot to do with “like-terms” also known as terms (similarly formatted numbers/variables).

1st box:
6x and 8x are being combined.
6x-8x=-2x

2nd box:
-4x and -2x (from the 1st box) are being combined.
-2x+4x=2x

3rd box:
6 and 2 are being combined.
6-2=4

Altogether, we would have 4=2x. With one last division of 4/2, we would get 2=x.
