3 can go into 21 when multiplied by 7.

so put a o over the 2, and a 7 over the one.

and a 21 under 21.

Now 3 can go into 4 when multiplied by 1.

so put a 1 over the 4,

and a 3 under it.

4-3=1

Now 3 can't go into one, so you will add a dicimal, (represented as r already) and then the 1 becomes 10. now 3 can go into ten when multiplied by 3.

so put a 3 next to the r, and a 9 under the ten.

10-9=1

Now it's repeated.
