Combine like terms;


30 = 4x + 2

Subtract from both sides;


28 = 4x

Divide each side by 4;


7= x

Check;


30 = 7 + 7 + 3 + 2(7) - 1


30 = 17 + 14 - 1


30 = 31 - 1


30 = 30\checkmark
