Given :

\: {\qquad \sf (4)/(6) x + (10)/(4) = - (6)/(8)x - 10 }

To Find :

  • The value of x.

Solution :

{\qquad \sf \dashrightarrow \: (4)/(6) x + (10)/(4) = - (6)/(8)x - 10 }

Subtracting
\sf \: (10)/(4) from both sides :

{\qquad \sf \dashrightarrow \: (4)/(6) x \: \: \cancel{+ (10)/(4)} \: \: \cancel{- (10)/(4)} = - (6)/(8)x - 10 - (10)/(4) }

Adding
\sf (6)/(8) x to both sides :

{\qquad \sf \dashrightarrow \: (4)/(6) x + (6)/(8)x = \cancel{- (6)/(8)x } \: \: \cancel {+ \: (6)/(8)x} - 10 - (10)/(4) }

{\qquad \sf \dashrightarrow (4)/(6) x + (6)/(8)x = - 10 - (10)/(4)}

Adding the like terms :

{\qquad \sf \dashrightarrow (32x + 36x)/(24) = ( - 40 - 10)/(4) }

{\qquad \sf \dashrightarrow (68x)/(24) = ( - 50)/(4) }

{\qquad \sf \dashrightarrow (34x)/(12) = ( - 25)/(2) }

By doing cross multiplication we get :

{\qquad \sf \dashrightarrow {68x} = - 300 }

{\qquad \sf \dashrightarrow {x} = ( - 300)/(68) }

{\qquad \bf \dashrightarrow {x} = ( - 75)/(17) }
