It simply means: what’s the chance “x” will occur?

I have a jar with 20 candies of which 10 are red, 5 are blue, 3 are green, and 2 are white. If I randomly grab 1 candy, what’s the likelihood it’ll be red? In other words: what’s the *chance* it’ll be a red candy?

(It’s 10/20 = 1/2 = 50%, by the way, but it’s just an example).
