1. After many of the men left to fight in the war women joined the work force.

2. The late 1800's was very different from now, living conditions were bad, people had low wages, and working conditions were unclean. People would have more children because they believe it would earn them more money which is why children worked in factories. Now child labor is seen as immoral because of laws and other factors.

3. Immigrants joined the workforce, created businesses, and helped expand the economy.
