Answer:

x= 26 y = 49

Explanation:

let the first number be x and second be y

then

according to the question,

x + y= 75

x + (2x- 3) = 75

x + 2x - 3 = 75

3x = 75 +3

3x = 78

x = 78/3

x = 26

thus first number is 26

and second number is 2x-3=2×26-3

= 52 - 3= 49

First set up an equation:

x + (2x-3) = 75
now add both together

3x-3 =75

move over the constant

3x=78

and divide by 3

x= 26

Hope this helps!!
