The figure shows a trapezium PQRS where RS = 17m and PS = 15m. If PT = 14m, and the area of trapezium is 196m2, Find the length PQ.

In trapezium PQRS,

PQ and RS are parallel lines and PT is the perpendicular distance between the parallel lines

a = PQ

b =RS = 17 m

d = PT = 14 m


((a+b)*d)/(2)= 196\\\\((PQ + 17)*14)/(2)=196\\\\(PQ + 17) * 7 = 196\\\\PQ + 17 = (196)/(7)\\\\PQ + 17 = 28\\\\PQ = 28 - 17\\\\PQ = 11
