Life on Columbus's ships especially the two smaller and faster ones was pretty hard. There was no space on these ships so the men had to sleep on the deck and also had to sleep in such a way that they would not disturb their colleagues who were manning the ship.

The men also did not eat very good food as some of the food got wet and as a result developed maggots. The men had to eat both the food and the maggots in some cases so the food was pretty bad as well and even when it was wet, it was still just basic staples like biscuits and beans.
