If 1-log (x+1) = log(x-8) find the possible values of X

Explanation:

1-log (x+1) = log(x-8)

<=> log 10 -log (x+1) = log(x-8)

10/(x+1)=(x-8)

=> (x+1) (x-8)= 10

x²-7x-8=10

x²-7x-18=0

(x-9) (x+2)=0

x=9 or x=-2

so, x=9 is the possible value
