The container in figure 5.1 33 is made from a circular cylinder and a cube the height of the cylinder is 20 cm and its base radius is it that cube has sides of 16 cm

calculate the volume in cm3 of the cylinder and the total volume of the container on cm3 ​

Total volume of container = 8115.2 cm³

Height of cylinder, h = 20 cm

Base Radius of cylinder, r = 8cm

Volume of a cylinder, V = πr²h

Volume = 3.14 * 8² * 20

Volume = 3.14 * 64 * 20

V = 4019.2 cm³

The volume of a cube, V = a³ ; where a = edge of the cube

Edge of the cube, a = 16 cm

Hence,

V = a³ = 16³ = 16 * 16 * 16 = 4096 cm³

The total volume of the container is :

Volume of cube + Volume of Cylinder

4019.2 cm³ + 4096 cm³

= 8115.2 cm³
