What equations models the problems?

4 + 4 + 4 = 12 3 x 4 = 12

What do the numbers represent in the equations?
Do both equations show three dogs with four legs each?

Answer:

the first equation is the total legs on one dog being added together with 2 other total dog legs. The second equation is the number of dogs multiplied by the total number of legs on one dog. Either way both equation show 3 dogs with 4 legs each.
