Brianna hoped to get 100 pumpkins from her garden this year. Since the weather was favorable, 20% more pumpkins grew than expected. Unfortunately, animals ate 30% of all the pumpkins that grew. How many pumpkins were left? Is the final number of pumpkins more than or less than she hoped for? Please explain so I know how to solve problems like these in the future.

less, just because if she got 20% more pumpkins, that would make her get 120 pumpkins. but then if 30% were eaten, that would be 36. and 120-36 is 84..

Answer:

she would get less than she hoped for

Explanation:

if she got 20 % more from the weather and 30 % was eaten by animals than she would have 90% of her origanal crop
