Multiply both sides by 8 to eliminate the fraction

2+x =16

x=14

9x14 = 126

assuming that the x is the same in both problems, to get 2 as your solution, in the first problem x÷8 would have to equal 0. so x would have to be 0. sense 0 + 2 equals 2.

Then plug 0 into x in the first equation to check your work, and if it equals the answer givin to you (2), plug 0 into the equation you are trying to solve.

so 9×0 is 0, then 0 - 3 would give you -3
