Given:

The number is 2 by 7.

To find:

Whether 2 by 7 recurring decimal or terminating decimal.

Solution:

If all the prime factors of denominator value of a fraction is either 2 or 5 or both, then the fraction is terminating decimal.

If the prime factors of denominator value of a fraction is other than 2 or 5 , then the fraction is recurring decimal.

The given number is:

(2)/(7).

The denominator value is 7 and prime factor of 7 is 7, which is different from 2 and 5.

Therefore, the number 2 by 7 is recurring decimal.
