How did the attack of fort sumter help cause the civil war???

Answer:

Confederate forces took Fort Sumter after Beauregard's attack in 1861, and used it to marshal a defense of Charleston Harbor. Fort Sumter allowed the Confederates to cut a valuable breach in the Union blockade of the Atlantic coast once it was built and adequately armed.
