Twice once number added to another number is 18. If the second number is equal to 12 less than 4 times the first number, find the first two numbers.

2x+y= 12 ; y= __x - __

I really need help with the second part...

Explanation:

2x+y= 12

= 12,18

= 36

so the value of y is 36

value of x is 48
