What is the answer for this word problem??

The school that Scott goes to is selling tickets to a play. On the first day of ticket sales the school sold 9 adult tickets and 4 student tickets for a total of $177. The school took in $73 on the second day by selling 1 adult ticket and 4 student tickets. Find the price of an adult ticket and the price of a student ticket.

Answer:

adult $13 student $15

Explanation:

A=adult S = student

9A + 4S = 177

1A + 4S = 73

Multiply the second by (-1)

9A +4S = 177

-1A -4S = -73

ADD BOTH (4S will be cancelled)

8A = 104

A = 13 ( Adult ticket = $13)

13 + 4S = 73

4S = 60

S = 15 ( student ticket $15)
