Simplify:

77x= 52

Divide both sides by 77:

x= 52 ÷77


x = (52)/(77)

x= 0.675 (3 s.f.)

Substitute the value of x into (2):


y = 76( (52)/(77) )


y = 51 (25)/(77)

y= 51.3 (3 s.f.)
