to find the slope you have to go from any point on the line to a second point on the line.

for example go from point located at (-4, 2) to point (2,0)

slope = how much you moved vertical / how much you moved horizontal

look at the graph at (-4, 2)

move down 2 and then

move right 6 you should be at (2, 0)

which means that the slope m= -2/ 6 = -1/3
