Space Travel: Should our society spend taxpayer money to colonize the moon?

Ineffective Argument

I love space. It rocks.

It is super important to colonize the moon because we will run out of room on earth. My neighbor who grows organic vegetables says that we are ruining the earth’s environment and we will need a new place to live. I totally agree.

I think that another reason we should colonize the moon is that it would be cool. Can you imagine living up there and being able to see the earth? Wow. My best friend says that living on the moon would be an awesome experience for anyone.

The moon is great!

Answer:

The claim for this article is very weak and oppinionated, and when you are writing an article you can not have opinions, but facts. Some evidence that this is weak is that it is informal and gramatically inaccurate, using words such as "cool", or "totally" rather than using proper grammer and would not need to even include simaller words if he had a proper article with trustable sources. This also uses information from a irrelevent sources, including his friend and neighbor. This also includes to transitions whatsover, which are nessacary to thread the article together neatly. Transitions would have also helped the article stay more relevent, rather than just stating random opinions and statments, as well as not thinking about the format and length of the article. As for the point of view, it is written from the "author's" perspective, otherwise known as first person view when it should have been written in third person view. Finally for the conclusion, at first it seems there was nowhere to be found because, there is not. All it has for a conclusion is one sentence (The moon is great!) that does not even include a small summary of the entire article which is what a proper conclusion is.

Claim- weak and to oppinionated

Support- informal, gramaticly inaccurate, uses words like "cool" and "Totally", uses evidence from an irrelevant source

Conclusion- not really a conclusion. one sentence is not a conclusion and it doesnt sum up the rest of the argument.

pov- is written in first person when it should be written in third person.

Transitions- no transitions
