Okay so the diameter is 6 inches right? And the area formula for a circle is: A=pi (they want you to use 3.14) r (radius) ^2 (squared)

A=(pi)r^2

and the area formula for a square is just sxs right? Side x side.

So 6x6=36 (that’s the area for the square)

And since we know the diameter we can figure out the are of the circle (I know it’s a half circle but just wait I’ll get to that)

Diameter is twice the radius.

So likewise the radius is half the diameter.

6/2=3

The radius is 3 inches.

So let’s plug that into the formula

A=(pi)3^2

That comes out to 113.1 inches

Since it’s half a circle we divide it by 2

That’s 56.55

So we add them.

56.55+36= 92.55 inches

Have a good summer :)
