The sum of three numbers is 85. The third number is 7 more than the first. The second number is 2 times the third. What are the numbers?​

Explanation:

let the first number be x , then the third number is x + 7 and the second is

2(x + 7) = 2x + 14

Sum the numbers and equate to 85

x + 2x + 14 + x + 7 = 85

4x + 21 = 85 ( subtract 21 from both sides )

4x = 64 ( divide both sides by 4 )

x = 16

x + 7 = 16 + 7 = 23

2(x + 7) = 2(16 + 7) = 2(23) = 46

The numbers are 16, 46, 23
