Asquared + Bsquared = Csquared

where A and B are legs of the triangle separated by 45°, and C is the hypotenuse.

we want to find X which is where the hypotenuse is so we're just solving for C.

now we plug in all of the numbers we have into the formula.

7squared + 9squared = Csquared

49 + 81 = Csquared

130 = Csquared

now we take the square root from both sides to cancel out the square on the C.

root(130) = root(Csquared)

root(130) = C
