to figure this out you would need to get the x by itself. since the 5 is attached to the x you need to get rid of the five. you get rid of the 5 by dividing 5x by 5. and whatever you do ti one side you have to do to the other. so, 35/5 is 7. and you are left with x=7

you would need to do the opposite of multiplication so divide by 5 to get the x alone and divide 35 by 5 which will give you x=7. answer: x=7
