Right triangle XYZ is drawn with a 23° angle. For right triangles with an angle of 23° the ratio of the leg adjacent the 23° angle compared to the hypotenuse is 0.92 If the leg adjacent to the 23° angle has a length of 46 units, what is the length of the hypotenuse?

Answer:

50

Explanation:

In a right angled triangle :

Ratio of the leg Adjacent an angle to the hypotenus can be obtained using the Cosine trigonometric ratio

For an angle of 23° and and adjacent leg of 46

Cos 23 = adjacent / hypotenus

Adjacent / hypotenus = 0.92

46 / hypotenus = 0.92

Hypotenus = 46 / 0.92

Hypotenus = 50
