A= 5*6 - 3*2

= 30 - 6

= 24 in^2

first solve for the entire shaped. Even with the non shaded area.

5×6=30in

now solve for the non shaded area.

3×2=6

since you dont want the non shaded subtract it from the entire shape so

30-6=24in

the area of the shaded region is 24in
