How do I annotate better and in a more helpful way to school homework?

Annotating texts is not the most exciting tactic for reading comprehension. In my classroom experience, even the mention of the word annotate was met with looks of confusion or boredom. Traditional annotations have been students’ only interactions with the text. When students are asked to underline important parts of the texts, they will usually pick the first line that seems appealing or attempt to highlight the whole page of text with pretty-colored highlighters. Simply underlining the text will not meet the needs of our 21st-century learners.

Answer: while annotating you can ask questions about some of the phrases or vocabulary used in the text; to make it easier you can either jot down important information / or vocabulary you notice

Explanation: you can use note pads, or highlighters to make different pieces of information stand outs ( like color coding pens or markers) underlining can help . And you can make comments about little things (Ex: the dog lost its chew toy outside) you can annotate by saying “why was the toy outside”.

Its a lot easier once you point out the littlest things that stand out to you
