Answer:

2

Explanation:

Hello !

In order to add fractions...

*You must have a common denominator (remember the top is the numerator and the bottom is the denominator)

So...

1 1/2 + 1/2

Although both have a 2 at the bottom, you can't add these because 1 1/2 is a mixed number and 1/2 isn't. To add them, you have to turn 1 1/2 into an improper fraction. You do this by multiplying the denominator by the whole number and then adding that to the numerator.

So 1 1/2 is the same thing as 3/2.

Now, you can add straight across.

3/2 + 1/2 = 4/2

4/2 = 2

Your answer is : 2

I hope this helps, please let me know if you're confused or have any more questions and I'll be happy to help.

Have a wonderful night :)
