Answer:

There is anticipation at the beginning of the poem. He wants to choose his own path and so the mood/tone is very light and exciting. In the end, after he chooses which way to go, is he really uncertain about the choice that he made.

I think we question this of ourselves all of the time. What if I would have done it this way instead..... Do not doubt yourself. Go with your gut.
