Explanation:

x^2 + 7x - 60 = 0

D = b^2 - 4ac

D = 7 * 7 + 60 * 4 * 1 = 289

sqrt(D) = sqrt(289) = 17

x₁ = (-b - √D) / 2a = (-7 - 17) / 2 = -24 / 2 = -12

x₂ = (-b + √D) / 2a = (-7 + 17) / 2 = 10 / 2 = 5
