Why is there a letter also on Mathematics?

I mean, there is a letter in English...

I don't know why there is a letter like 2x + 19 and x + 23.

It's really frustrating that there's a letter in Mathematics

They can just do "3*4" instead of "x*4 when x=3"

I know... I know... It's a silly question.

Not silly, i understand but "x" is supposed to be a subsitute for a number after the many equations youll be learning in algebra. x can be anything, it isnt set to anykind of specifac number but rather an output of an equation. It is fustrating but i reccomend khan acdemy videos or math nation since they specialze in thses kinds of maths
