Pls answer and thank you!

The school store sells bottles of water and soft pretzels during lunch. Each bottle of water costs $0.75, and each pretzel costs $1.25. During one lunch period, the number of water bottles sold and the number of pretzels sold added up to 97, and the store made $96.25. Which system of equations could you write to answer this question: How many bottles of water, w, and how many pretzels, p, did the school store sell?

a.) w + p = 97
1.25w + 0.75p = 96.25

b.) w + p = 96.25
1.25w + 0.75p = 97

c.) w + p = 97
1.25w + 0.75p = 96.25

d.) w + p = 97
0.75w + 1.25p = 96.25

The answer would be D. Since both pretzels, and water bottles should that lunch period added up to 97. And you’ll add 0.75 w + 1.25p= 96.25

Answer:

D

Explanation:

The first equation will have to do with the the quantities sold.

We know that 97 total items were sold so

w + p = 97

The second equation has to do with prices.

Our final profit was 96.25 so we tag on each individual price to the different items sold. This amounts to the final profit.

0.75w + 1.25p = 96.25

----------------------------------------------------

w + p = 97

0.75w + 1.25p = 96.25
