Answer:

The total area is 594cm.²

Explanation:

The top and bottom each have a length of 36 cm.

Blue side:

36/3= 12cm. (36/3 for the length of one side of a blue square)

12*12= 144cm.² (area of one blue square)

144*3= 432cm.² (area of all the blue squares)

Orange side:

36/8= 4.5cm. (the length of one side of an orange square)

4.5*4.5= 20.25cm.² (the area of one orange square)

20.25*8= 162cm.² (the area of all the orange squares)

Total area:

432+162= 594 cm.²
