  • Drugs bind to opiate receptors in the brain, spinal cord, etc.
  • Blocks the perception of pain.
  • Cause side effects such as nausea, confusion, and drowsiness.
  • Feelings of euphoria(immense joy + happiness)
  • Hijacks neurotransmitter called dopamine, the reward system
  • You CAN get it legally with prescription, but still have a chance of becoming addicted.
