F ( x ) = 3 x 2 + 1 , to find F ( − 2 ) , we have to just put

x = − 2 in the formula for F ( x ) .

therefore , F ( − 2 ) = 3 ( − 2 ) 2 + 1 = 3 ( 4 ) + 1 = 13 .
