The source of all energy in the pyramid in model 1 is sunlight
Why is this correct?
Primary producers such as plants (Oak tree leaves) derive their energy directly from sunlight through photosynthesis. primary consumers such as Caterpillars obtain their energy by consuming these plants and the energy is transferred to blue jays as feeds on the Caterpillars. The hawk is a predator to smaller birds including blue jay.
As energy moves up the food chain, approximately 10% of this energy is transferred from one trophic level to the next, while the remaining 90% is lost as heat.
