Explanation:

L=W+5

Area=LW

36=(W+5)W

36=W^2+5W

W^2+5W-36=0

(W+9)(W-4)=0

W-4=0

W=4 ANS. FOR THE WIDTH.

L=4+5=9 ANS. FOR THE LENGTH.

PROOF:

36=9*4

36=36
