Answer:

the first expression is 6.

the second expression is 12.

they are NOT equivalent.

Answer:

No they are not equivalent

Explanation:

The given expressions are r + 4(2 + r) – 12, and 8 + 2r – 6

Let us first put r= 2 in the above expression

2+4(2+2)-12= 6

and 8+2(2)-6 = 6

Now let us put r=5 in the above two expressions

5+4(2+5)-12 = 21

similarly, 8+2(5)-6 = 12

Clearly, the two expressions are not equivalent when we put r=2 and r=5 as the values coming are different.
