Monica has a triangular piece of fabric. The height of the triangle is 15 inches and the triangle's base is 6 inches. Monica says that the area of the fabric is 90 square inches. What error did Monica make? Explain your answer

Answer:

Monica forgot to divide by 2

b=6

h=15

area = 1/2xbxh

substitute value = area = 1/2x6x15

evaluate area = 45

She did not divide the area by 2 as required in the equation

the formula is base × height ÷ 2, 15×6=90. 90÷2=45, 45 is the answer, she forgot to divide it by 2
