Explanation:

Area of the shaded region =Area of square with side 10 cm - Area of circle with radius 5 cm

$= {10}^(2) - 3.14 {(5)}^(2) \\ = 100 - 3.14 * 25 \\ = 100 - 78.5 \\ = 21.5 \: {cm}^(2)$
