In a school, 60% of the girls and 70% of the boys own a bicycle. if a boy and a girl are selected at random from the school, find the probability that only one of them own a bicycle​

Answer:

23/50 or 0.46

Explanation:

probability of girls owning a bicycle 60/100=3/5

probability of girls no owning one is 1-3/5=2/5

same method for boys 70/100=7/10

probability for not is 3/10

to find the probability that only one does you would do..

(3/5*3/10)+(2/5*7/10)

which equals 23/50 or 0.46
