can anyone explain the a+b+c or is it a+b=c? i don't know.....can someone please explain it to me? Pls no links

Basically you have three sides to a triangle to find the missing side length, you find the hypotenuse using the formula a^2+b^2=C^2 (^2 means squared). after that you square root the equation to find the missing side length. as you can see with the image below, those are you side lengths
can anyone explain the a+b+c or is it a+b=c? i don't know.....can someone please explain-example-1
