OK so in WW2 Why did the Germans not betray Italy like how they did the Soviet Union (now known as Russia)

On 22 May 1939, Italy and Germany signed the Pact of Steel joining both countries in a military alliance. The pact was really designed for a "joint war against France and Britain", though the Italian hierarchy held the understanding that such a war would not take place for several years.

Hope this might help, so sorry if not!
