Ed owns a brake repair shop. He charges $25 to check brakes. He charges $50 for a new set of

brakes. He charges $75 for labor to put a new set of brakes on.
If 5 cars came in today, and 3 of them needed a brake check and the others needed new brakes,
which equation would tell Ed how much money he made?
2(25) + 3(50 +75)
3(50) + 2 + 25 + 75
3(25) + 2(50)
3(25) + 2(50 + 75)

Answer:

D. 3(25) + 2(50+75)

Explanation:

3 cars = check brakes = $25. So, 3x25 or 3(25)

2 cars = new brakes = $50 + $75. So, 2(50+75)

Add the two semi-totals together: 3(25) + 2(50+75)
